A Special Tour of Gomberg Seltzer Works on December 15**
In the 1920s and 30s, Brooklyn was home to more than 100 seltzer bottlers and distributors. The Reliquary's beloved [Seltzer Bottles of Brooklyn](http://www.cityreliquary.org/permanentcollection/#jp-carousel-2575) exhibit showcases the glass bottles, hand-blown in Czechoslovakia and Austria, used for home delivery of seltzer and etched with the logos of some of these long-gone manufacturers.
Today, only one true seltzer works remains: Gomberg Seltzer Works in Canarsie, a.k.a. the [Brooklyn Seltzer Boys](https://www.brooklynseltzerboys.com). Each vintage bottle is hand-filled with triple-filtered New York City water, carbonated on site, and delivered to customers in a wooden crate.
On December 15, join the City Reliquary on a special tour of the Gomberg Seltzer Works! We'll see the bottling facility and siphon filler, learn about the history of seltzer in Brooklyn and the delivery business past and present, and finish with a seltzer taste test and that iconic Brooklyn treat: [egg cream](https://whatscookingamerica.net/History/NYEggCreamHistory.htm), made the only right way with Fox's syrups.
The tour begins at 11 a.m. at Brooklyn Seltzer Boys in Canarsie, 855 East 92nd Street, Brooklyn. [Tickets are $25, and $21 for City Reliquary Members.](https://www.artful.ly/store/events/16683) Space is very limited, so don't wait!

**FINAL WEEKEND! Empire Skate: The Birthplace of Roller Disco Closes November 25!**
It's that time of the night: we've reached the final skate. This weekend is your last chance to see the City Reliquary's popular exhibit *Empire Skate: The Birthplace of Roller Disco*! Far more than just a 70s trendsetter, Empire Roller Skating Center was an icon from the time the "Miracle Maple" floor was laid, and a focal point for the African-American community in Crown Heights and Bed-Stuy. Explore its history through video, artifacts, and interviews**, **and check out photos from past Empire reunion events.
The museum will be closed on Thursday, November 22, for the Thanksgiving holiday, so only three days remain to get your groove on with us! (though the Empire Skate exhibit soundtrack will live on as a [Spotify playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3Or0iUXaT2Xd4yBrBGwpvo))
See you there!!
