**See the Last Real Seltzer Factory in Brooklyn! A Special Tour of Gomberg Seltzer Works on December  15**
In the 1920s and 30s, Brooklyn was home to more than 100 seltzer bottlers and distributors. The Reliquary's beloved [Seltzer Bottles of Brooklyn](http://www.cityreliquary.org/permanentcollection/#jp-carousel-2575) exhibit showcases the glass bottles, hand-blown in Czechoslovakia and Austria, used for home delivery of seltzer and etched with the logos of some of these long-gone manufacturers.

Today, only one true seltzer works remains: Gomberg Seltzer Works in Canarsie, a.k.a. the [Brooklyn Seltzer Boys](https://www.brooklynseltzerboys.com). Each vintage bottle is hand-filled with triple-filtered New York City water, carbonated on site, and delivered to customers in a wooden crate.

On December 15, join the City Reliquary on a special tour of the Gomberg Seltzer Works! We'll see the bottling facility and siphon filler, learn about the history of seltzer in Brooklyn and the delivery business past and present, and finish with a seltzer taste test and that iconic Brooklyn treat: [egg cream](https://whatscookingamerica.net/History/NYEggCreamHistory.htm), made the only right way with Fox's syrups.

The tour begins at 11 a.m. at Brooklyn Seltzer Boys in Canarsie, 855 East 92nd Street, Brooklyn. [Tickets are $25, and $21 for City Reliquary Members.](https://www.artful.ly/store/events/16683) Space is very limited, so don't wait!

We're planning a series of tours in 2019 that, like this one, bring objects in the Reliquary's permanent collection to life. Museum Members will receive special pricing or exclusive access to these events. Consider [City Reliquary Membership](https://www.artful.ly/cityreliquary/store/memberships) as a holiday gift for the New York City history buff in your life - or for yourself!

**The City Reliquary Recommends: Brooklyn Rock Lottery 9!**
We're very proud to support [Brooklyn Rock Lottery](http://www.brooklynrocklottery.com/) once again! Now in its ninth year, the Lottery brings together artists from a variety of musical disciplines to form five new groups with membership selected by random draw. These bands have a mere twelve hours to compose and practice a mini-set of songs together before performing them for the audience.

This year, members of indie luminaries Jets to Brazil, Dirty Projectors, Bleachers, Bodega, and more will participate, and the evening's proceeds will benefit [Atlas: DIY](http://www.atlasdiy.org), a NY nonprofit working with immigrant youth to provide access to legal services, learning opportunities, and leadership development in a space own, run, and governed by the youth themselves.

Brooklyn Rock Lottery 9 happens this Saturday, December 1, at 9:00 p.m. at our neighbor the Knitting Factory, 361 Metropolitan Avenue. [You can buy tickets here!](https://www.ticketweb.com/event/brooklyn-rock-lottery-9-knitting-factory-brooklyn-tickets/8777365)

As a community museum, new exhibitions and programming are only possible with your support.
