NYC Trash!: Past, Present, & Future Sculpture Garden Opening!

Collectors' Night Lineup Announced! 

Member Excursion to Dead Horse Bay!

**On April 7th**, the second phase of the City Reliquary's current exhibit, [NYC Trash!: Past, Present, & Future](http://www.cityreliquary.org/exhibition/exhibitionhall/) will debut with the opening of an outdoor sculpture garden.

Artists [Claudia Sbrissa](http://claudiasbrissa.com/), [Jeffrey Allen Price](http://www.jeffreyallenprice.com/), [Bernard Klevickas](http://www.bernardklevickas.com/), [Niki Lenderer](http://nikilederer.com/), [Barbara Lubliner](https://barbaralubliner.com/), the [New York Aquarium Wildlife Conservation Corps](https://nyaquarium.com/wildlife-conservation-corps), and more will present work that utilizes waste and speaks to trash solutions. [Jacquelyn Ottman](http://www.greenmarketing.com/about-us/j-ottman/) will read a selection of her poetry, "If Trash Could Talk".

The City Reliquary will be hosting its 13th annual Collectors' Night on April 14th, 6-8PM at the New York City Fire Museum. Join us in celebrating curious collections, displays, and ephemera!

**When: Saturday, April 14 @ 6 PM**
**Where: The New York City Fire Museum  Admission: $10 general/$7 Reliquary members**

**Special guest speakers will focus on municipal collections of New York City and feature:**

**Brian Kelley’s** [NYCTA project](http://thenyctaproject.com/), which began as a simple collection of MetroCards taken from the ground and has since expanded to encompass Transit Authority materials, patches, pamphlets, pins, tickets, tokens, limited-edition MetroCards, and more.
 
**Nelson Molina**, a retired DSNY worker, will present on his [Treasures in the Trash](http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/24/nyregion/in-new-york-sanitation-dept-garage-an-art-gallery.html) collection.

And a special presentation from our host, the [New York Fire Museum](http://www.nycfiremuseum.org/), detailing the history and cultural heritage of the fire service of New York.

Field Trip to Brooklyn's Dead Horse Bay. On **Saturday, April 28th**, Members will have the opportunity to join a special guided field trip to [Dead Horse Bay](https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/dead-horse-bay), a 19th century landfill in South Brooklyn where unusual artifacts can still be found today. **Space is extremely limited!**

[Robin Nagle](https://robinnagle.com/), anthropologist-in-residence for New York's Department of Sanitation, will provide an overview of the site and it's role in New York City's trash history. Transportation to and from Dead Horse Bay will be provided.
