[**The New York Supper Club: From Nightlife to Social Distancing**](https://covidsupperclub.cargo.site/) is an online initiative that documents the heyday of New York’s supper club nightlife in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. The exhibit draws on supper club ephemera from the City Reliquary collection, including menus, promotional materials, and photographs.

Although this exhibition is a celebration of an era, it also shines a light on social injustices that took place within these spaces. Supper clubs were created in post-WWII America as one way for the up-and-coming middle class to enjoy newfound leisure time. Often, these clubs relied on the exploitation of women and people of color for the entertainment of their clientele.

This exhibition was curated by students from the Parsons School of Design studying with Pamela Parker and Jeff Stark. Originally scheduled to open up at a temporary Chashama space in the West Village, the students have adapted the show for an online presentation in the wake of COVID-19.
