**Kickoff Party for Beyond Patience & Fortitude: In Protection and Celebration of New York’s Diverse Cultures Friday, January 20 @ 7 PM**

Join us on **Inauguration Day, Jan. 20,** for our own inaugural event: the kickoff for **Beyond Patience & Fortitude**, an event series to educate and empower in the current political climate. From January to March, we’ll host presentations and performances that inform and inspire. It's time to move [#beyondpatience](https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/beyondpatience) and toward civic action!

We'll have stations with materials for protest signs and button-making stations where you can create your very own *Civic New Yorker* pin! Free posters, stickers, and informational “Know Your Rights” flyers provided by [Interference Archive](http://interferencearchive.org/) and the ACLU. We’ll also give out free copies of **RESIST!**, a comics newspaper commenting on a Trump presidency, published by Gabe Fowler of [Desert Island Comics](http://desertislandcomics.tumblr.com/).

The evening will feature a performance of **Aaron Copland’s “Lincoln Portrait”** by [Loud Box NYC](http://www.loudboxnyc.org/) and a screening of [Bill Santen’s](http://billsanten.com) nostalgic, wistful treatment of Barack Obama’s 2008 inauguration.
