An update from the City Reliquary

The City Reliquary
# April 1: Ten-Year Anniversary & Grand Reopening The City Reliquary turns ten in 2012, and we're celebrating with a big ol' party. [Get the details here »](http://www.cityreliquary.org/the-city-reliquarys-10-year-anniversary/)
## Dear Board members,
As you can tell, I'm testing out [MailChimp](http://mailchimp.com/)'s email marketing platform. The price—free!—can't be beat and comes with a huge amount of functionality, including the ability to track how many people open any given email and to email a specific list segment (e.g., members, Brooklyn residents, etc.). Love this format? Hate the color palette? Confused by what any of this means? Please share your feedback with me.

I'll be migrating our existing mailing list contacts into MailChimp today, so that we can send an email blast about Sunday's event. I'll also update the mailing list form on our website and create a simple process for our volunteers to subscribe visitors who sign in at the museum. Over the next few weeks, I'll work with Leslye Leaness to import donor contacts from QuickBooks.

More streamlined communications will have a huge impact on our ability to reach and grow the City Reliquary's audience—and will give us an important new channel through which to fundraise.

To the right, I've highlighted a few items of note from my first week. Again, please always feel free to share your thoughts and ideas with me.

I'm so looking forward to seeing all of you this Sunday. Until then!

With best wishes,

Jay Chen
Managing Director

PS: Did all of you see the write-up and slideshow we got in *Time Out New York*? Thanks and congratulations to Dave Herman for this big press coup!
### Cross your fingers Our new request to Councilmember DIana Reyna's office for $15,000 of expense funding is in.

### Cultural Data Project I've begun work on our 11-page [Cultural Data Project](http://www.nysculturaldata.org/home.aspx) profile, which will allow us to compete for grants from a number of New York cultural funders, including the New York State Council on the Arts.

### Delicious, delicious TechSoup The good people at [TechSoup](http://www.techsoup.org/) make specialized software available to small nonprofits at significantly reduced costs. I've just submitted our paperwork, so within a month, we'll be up and running with professional donor management software and more.

### Individual Board member meetings Thanks to everyone who's responded to my wheedling requests. If we haven't yet made a time to get together, prepare to be wheedled further on Sunday.
