Today is also the 134th birthday of the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge! Our souvenir coin from opening day depicts the bridge connecting New York and Brooklyn with the inscription "'Two Cities As One:' New York & Brooklyn." Brooklyn, in fact, was an independent city until the consolidation of the five boroughs in 1898.
