**HONK NYC Kickoff Party TONIGHT! Doors @ 8, Bands start @ 8:30 NO COVER**

[HONK NYC 2017](https://honknyc.com/) kicks off in our backyard with an evening of brasstastical antics and shenanigans: all-brass Nirvana covers; New Orleans standards; a renegade parade!

HONK NYC is an annual week-long extravaganza of street bands and spectacle with over a dozen free and ticketed performances in schools, clubs, parks, gardens, galleries and other public spaces across metropolitan New York.

Featuring performances by NYC ensembles:

[The Nevermind Orchestra](http://thenevermindorchestra.com/)
[The L Train Brass Band](https://www.facebook.com/ltrainbrass/)
[New Creations Brass Band](https://www.facebook.com/newcreationsbrass/)

*Closet Archaeology* closes Oct. 15. See it one last time--for free!--during OHNY weekend. Enjoy open access to the Reliquary for [Open House New York 2017 Weekend](https://www.ohny.org/weekend/overview)! We're offering free admission on **Saturday, October 14 and Sunday, October 15.**

This is also your last chance to see [*Closet Archaeology*](http://cityreliquary.org/closetarch) before it closes on Oct. 15. If you haven't had a chance to see this wonderful exhibition, now is the time!

The City of New York is getting a Nightlife Mayor! Join us and other creative civic NYC heroes at [MARKET HOTEL](https://www.facebook.com/markethotel/) to talk to our city officials about the needs of grassroots community spaces. Together, we can [#SaveNYCSpaces](https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/savenycspaces)!

This artist-led event is the only chance for public input before the Night Mayor is chosen. Cultures that inspire the world are born and grow in NYC's diverse grassroots spaces. They should be preserved, not targeted or forced out of existence by the affordability crisis.

Hosted by Anya Sapozhnikova of House of Yes. Speakers include NYC hip-hop legend Kurtis Blow and City Reliquary Events Coordinator Molly Cox!
