NYC Trash show deadline, and Closet Archaeology extended!

1 week left to send ideas for* NYC Trash!*
And we're extending *Closet Archaeology*!
### **One week left for submissions: NYC Trash! Past, Present, & Future**

The submission deadline for our upcoming exhibition is coming up soon! [Send us your ideas](http://cityreliquary.org/nyctrashsubmit) for *NYC Trash! Past, Present, & Future* until **Monday, August 14**.

Contact us at [info@cityreliquary.org](mailto:info@cityreliquary.org?subject=NYC%20Trash%20show%20submission) with your name, phone number, and a brief description of your exhibit idea including AV and/or space requirements.
While the curators are especially interested in contributions that address reuse and recycling, **all proposals will be considered. **

*Closet Archaeology* extended through October 15, 2017! Held over by popular demand, [*Closet Archaeology: An Accidental Time Capsule*](http://cityreliquary.org/clostarchextended) presents 20th-century ephemera discovered under the floorboards of the Children's Workshop School/P.S. 61 by a class of fourth-grade students led by their teacher, Miriam Sicherman. The students have compiled an archive of everyday artifacts ranging from ca. 1915 to ca. 1991. In addition to uncovering objects of the quotidian past, the students have also reached out and connected with some of the former students, now adults of advanced age, who lost items under the floorboards many years ago.

The Reliquary exhibition has received coverage in [Atlas Obscura](http://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/closet-archaeology-fourth-grade-floor) and [Bedford + Bowery](http://bedfordandbowery.com/2017/05/come-see-an-accidental-time-capsule-unearthed-by-east-village-school-kids/#). Miriam Sicherman has discussed the project in [*Social Studies and the Young Learner* (Nov/Dec 2015)](https://www.socialstudies.org/publications/ssyl/november-december2015/classroom_archaeology_letting_students_dig_up_the_curriculum). The project has also been covered by [*The New York Times*](https://nyti.ms/2muNsTZ).

Pics from our Ace Hotel reception Thanks to all who came to last week's exhibition opening at Ace Hotel! It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and to meet new Civic New Yorkers.

For the whole month of August, you can see a display of NYC relics selected from our archives. It is best enjoyed with one of the many fabulous beverages available at the Ace lobby bar!
